“The 1.05 MW SunMine solar plant is enough to power 185 homes”. The fact demonstrates the excellent potential of solar energy in BC.
A 260 Wp PV panel similar to those installed at SunMine has an area of 1.6 m2. 1.05 MWp needs about 6,400 m2 of PVs or 34 m2 (375 ft2) per home. That’s much less than the footprint of a typical single-family home.
Conclusion #3: A solar system installed in the Kootenay can power a single-family home using an area of PV smaller than the floor plan of the house.
It shows the excellent potential of solar energy in BC.
