Solar Energy in Canada

Except in Ontario, which benefits from an exceptionally generous Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) program, solar energy is still underdeveloped in Canada, despite an enormous potential and high level of radiation. (Source:  NRCan)

SunMine aims at unleashing this potential by setting an example in Kimberley,  British Columbia, B.C. [near (5) in the map]

As indicated in the map, Kimberley has the second highest solar energy in a  region that covers most of the upper Canadian Prairies. In addition, the SunMine site benefits from exceptional  conditions such as high altitude (1,200 m), high albedo and clean air.

The map above was produced by NRCan some time ago. EcoSmart has produced a more accurate solar map of Canada that you can find here.
